瑞典清新音樂廠牌Labrador Records在2002年不僅動作多多，與同鄉性質相近廠牌Summersound Recordings的合併更顯如虎添翼，旗下樂團如Edson、Acid House Kings、Club 8、Ronderlin、Tribeca等種種優異表現，使得Labrador Records所引領的瑞典獨立流行樂彷彿已成龍頭指標。而2002年年尾才冒出頭角的樂團The Radio Dept，是絕對要愛上的重要新名字。

The Radio Dept在1995年由還在學校的好夥伴Elin Almered和Johan Duncanson組成，其後Johan和Martin Larsson彈彈奏奏寫寫歌，等到所有陸續加入團員一起真正像個樂團排練已是2001年，包括了彈貝斯的Lisa Carlberg、和打鼓的Per Blomgren。經由Sonic雜誌附贈CD上的樂團作品，從而獲得Labrador Records賞識簽入旗下。

首張處男專輯不僅有甜美迷人的獨家配方，The Radio Dept音樂最特別吸引人的，莫過於吉他效果的運用，還有鼓聲環境一起塑造出低傳又夢幻的音質美感，但也不能簡單歸於90年代初噪音流行吉他類型分類，別忘了The Radio Dept的骨子裡流著是瑞典吉他音樂的清新血液。不論是Too Soon沙啞喃語與琴音開場、亦或Keen On Boys灑開一層層薄霧的吉他效果回聲與仙子跳舞似的電子節拍、還有Why Won’t You Talk About It和Against The Tide墜入與Jesus And Mary Chain共眠的柔情時刻，這些久久不見的飄渺必殺技倆，真叫人聽得回味開心。如果你還想聽回吉他不帶煩憂的撥彈，那It’s Been Eigth Music、1995和Bus絕對能滿足你不願長大的心靈。

2001年底的瑞典廠牌，有Summersounds帶來充滿天真傻氣的樂團Aerospace，讓人渡過了一個快樂的夏天；2003年初則是Labrador Records帶來的The Radio Dept，他們為瑞典清新音樂多造了些新的音樂角度，帶給人充滿更多希望的冬天。
