怎樣應用?
我覺得在以上幾句句子裏,我比較推介大家學習一下第1,第3和第12句:- 第1句我們在中文裏用不少吧~甚麼甚麼洪流,甚麼甚麼浪潮之類。把英文“the tide of”也學起來表達起來就更得心能手了!看例句~
- Many jobs are expected to vanish in a few years in the tide of AI. (在人工人智能的洪流,很多工作大概會在數年間消失。)
- 第3句的 "educated estimates"直接按字面翻譯的話是「受過教育的估算」的意思,但其實跟教育沒甚麼關係,主要是指「合理的估算」。看看倒句:
- She would not tell us how much money she makes, but judging from her elegant clothing, and educated guess would be she is at least in the middle class, if not upper class. (她不告訴我們她賺多少錢,但是憑她的衣着,合理的估計是她起碼是個中產人士,如果不是上流社會的人。)
- 第12句直接用無奈或不知道該說什麼的反應"simply shrugs"「只是聳了聳肩」去說明當事人的心情,這個寫法令場面在筆下繪形繪色,我們也可以參考一下呢~
- Being asked how they are going to provide for their families after this layoff, they simply shrug.(當問到他們打算在被裁員之後怎樣維持生計,他們只是聳了聳肩。)
