由《瞞天過海》《天人交戰》史蒂芬·索德柏2002年執導的《索拉力星 / 飛向太空》(Solaris),改編自波蘭作家史坦尼斯勞·萊姆(Stanisław Herman Lem,1921-2006年) 於1961年的同名科幻小說,他的作品常探討哲學主題:科技的影響、智慧的本質、與外星人互相理解的可能性、人類能力限制。1972年俄國導演安德烈·塔可夫斯基也有翻拍過同名電影,但傳聞 萊姆 比較偏愛這部以愛情為劇情主軸的電影。

Do not go gentle into that good night, 別輕柔地步入那良夜。 Old age should burn and rave at close of day; 白晝將盡,就算年老也要燃燒咆嘯; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. 怒吼、怒吼抗拒天光沒滅。 Though wise men at their end know dark is right, 雖然在白晝盡頭,智者自知該踏上夜途。 Because their words had forked no lightning they 因為他們的言語未曾迸發出電光, Do not go gentle into that good night. 別輕柔地步入那良夜。
兩人初見面時,曾留學英國的原住民朋友便吟詠了英國浪漫主義詩人、畫家 威廉布萊克(William Blake,1757-1827年)的長詩「天真的預言(Auguries Of Innocence)」其中一段:
Every Night & every Morn, 每一個黑夜每一個清晨, Some to Misery are Born. 有人為著痛苦而出生; Every Morn & every Night, 每一個清晨每一個黑夜, Some are Born to sweet delight. 有人生而為怡悅。 Some are Born to sweet delight. 有人生而為怡悅, Some are Born to Endless Night. 有人為著無盡長夜。
「一沙一世界,一花一永恆;手中掌無限,剎那成永恆。」(To see a World in a Grain of Sand, And a Heaven in a Wild Flower; Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand, And Eternity in an hour.)
Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, Creeps in this petty pace from day to day. To the last syllable of recorded time, And all our yesterdays have lighted fools. The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle! Life’s but a walking shadow, The poor player struts and frets his hour upon the stage. And then is heard no more. It is a tale. Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing. 明日、明日、又明日,光陰荏苒,日復一日緩緩潛行, 直到最終的滴答聲響;逝去的昨日照耀愚人,領其步上歸塵的死途。 滅了吧、滅了吧,這短暫的燭火!人生不過是四處飄流的陰影,舞台上可憐的演員,不是趾高氣昂,便是愁苦煩躁,事過境遷,終將消失無影。這段故事,由傻子講述,語氣忿怒激昂,卻毫無意義。
