「An old grandpa who often loses his temper in front of the mirror, dementia, living alone, lost, in winter, there is a puppy who loves him very much」
Grandpa Joe was always a bit forgetful, but since he'd retired and begun living alone, it seemed like his memory was slipping more and more. His family would stop by to check on him regularly, but it was getting to the point where they were seriously considering finding a nursing home for him. One day, as Joe was shuffling around his house, he got frustrated and began yelling at his reflection in the mirror. Suddenly, he didn't recognize the old man staring back at him. He was disoriented and confused, and didn't know how to get back to his chair. He wandered around for a bit before finally sitting down on the floor, feeling defeated.
At that moment, his little puppy, Benny, came over and sat down next to him, licking his hand in an attempt to comfort him. Joe had gotten Benny shortly after he'd moved into the house - he'd always wanted a dog, and figured that since he was alone now, it would be a good idea to have some company. Benny had been a loyal friend to Joe, and was always there when he needed him.
Joe sat on the floor for a while, until he finally started to feel sleepy. He leaned against the wall and dozed off, with Benny still by his side. A few hours later, he was woken up by a knock on the door. It was his family, come to check on him. They were relieved to find him safe, but when they saw the state of the house, they knew it was time to take him to the nursing home. Joe didn't want to go, but he knew it was for the best.
As he was being helped into the car, he turned to Benny and said, "Don't worry, boy. I'll be back soon." Benny whined and watched as Joe was driven away.
A few weeks later, Joe was settled into his new room at the nursing home. He missed Benny terribly, but was happy to be surrounded by people again. He was making friends and starting to feel like part of the community. One day, as he was sitting in the common room, he saw Benny come bounding in. He couldn't believe his eyes - Benny had somehow found him! They were reunited, and Joe knew that everything was going to be alright.
