累積字彙量是學習英文的基本功夫，透過「連結近義字」的方式學習，並多觀察近義字如何在不同語境中（context）被使用，可以舉一反三事半功倍，讓你的英語表達更到位。

以下我就以「各種不同的問」手把手帶大家來學習幾個基本單字的近義字，並觀察例句：

詢問資訊：

He asked me how I knew about the news.They asked me whether I had any objections.

• 近義字：inquire＋about/inquire whether
• 例句1: Why not email the hotel to inquire about the reservation?
• 例句2:I am writing to inquire whether you have any vacancies this weekend.

質疑:

I wish people would stop asking me about what happened.

• 近義字：question about
• 例句1: Students often question about the relevance（相關性） of certain topics to their future careers.
• 例句2:Experts（專家） are questioning about the long-term safety of the drug.

審問、拷問、嚴格審視:

• 近義字1：interrogate
• 例句1: My parents interrogated me about where I had been until so late
• 例句2: The police interrogated the suspect(嫌犯) for hours, trying to get a confession.(自白)

• 近義字2：grill sb /give sb a grilling （速記法：grill還有一個意思是「燒烤」這樣記，拷問的意境是不是特別貼切呢？）
• 例句1: The committee grilled the CEO about the company's declining(衰退的) profits.（獲利）
• 例句2: My boss gave me a grilling about the missed(錯過的，這裡因為deadline是“被錯過的”所以要用過去分詞) deadline.
• 例句3:The media gave the new policy a thorough(全面的、完整的) grilling, exposing（揭露） several flaws.(瑕疵) 這一句子是屬於比較書面的用法～

提出需求、尋求

She went to the store to ask for a refund(退費).

I'll ask for directions（問路） if we get lost.

• 近義字1：request (比ask更為正式、禮貌)
• 例句1: The lawyer requested for a postponement(延期) of the trial（判決）.
• 例句2: He requested for permission(准許、允許，在這裡是抽象名詞) to leave early.

• 近義字2：seek （用於費力尋求珍貴稀有的物品、服務等等）
• 例句1: Many people seek therapy to cope with(處理) stress and anxiety.
• 例句2: He sought（seek 的過去式不規則動詞） legal counsel（諮詢服務） before making any decisions.
• 例句3: They are seeking funding(資金、經費) for their research project(研究計畫).

求某人做某事

I asked him not to tell anyone about the surprise.

The teacher asked the students to complete their homework.

• 近義字1：beg
• 例句1:I begged her to forgive me for my mistake.
• 例句2: She begged him to stay, but he was determined to leave(決心要離開).

• 近義字2：implore 比beg 更懇切，更正式，是很重的動詞
• 例句1: He implored the doctor to save his child's life.
• 例句2: They implored the kidnappers（綁架犯） to release their hostage(釋放人質).
