My note:
Where the Wild Things Are is such an enduring story. I love how simple, beautiful, and at the same time, dark the story is. Therefore, I was not surprised that the book was originally banned when it was first released.
As the author Maurice Sendak mentioned, it is not just a book for children but for everyone. The monsters are indeed everyone's demons; they are the monsters we create ourselves. They represent the fears that live within us. However, the story shows us that we have the magic power to command our fears to "be still," and we always have the right and the time to travel to that fantastic island to be free, brave, and wild!
