讀詩時光：周夢蝶的孤獨國

「H，妳都好嗎？妳能否推薦我一位臺灣詩人的詩，如果可以的話可否請妳翻譯成英文？我想向學生介紹臺灣現代詩，並且，我想跟學生談談妳。」

M在阿拉斯加中學教語文與文學課，那一晚在line上留下了這麼句話。M喜歡寫詩讀詩，還是業餘的stand-up comedian，也是H曾經的brother-in-law。M與弟弟一個超級活潑一個特別沉默，在過往姻親家人的團聚時光裡，M總是耍寶耍不停地逗得大夥兒哈哈大笑，弟弟則偶爾丟出一兩句話，又或坐在中島桌前喝酒旁觀。

活潑好人緣的M有顆細膩與善良的心，那一天，從母親那兒得知位在遙遠東方的弟弟毫無理由毫無預兆離開H與弟弟的家，M立刻寫了email給H問有沒有什麼是他能幫上忙的地方，或許勸勸弟弟或許代為傳話。讀著email淚流滿面的H明白，即使丈夫的心不在人不在，她還擁有姻親家人的關愛與支持，滿滿的情意，包圍著她。

這一天，H打開筆電，M的line訊息跳了出來，H微笑收下M那總是熱情與真摯的正能量。

H推薦的是詩人周夢蝶及其詩作〈孤獨國〉，美國漢學家陶忘機(John Balcom)的翻譯版本：

Sat cross-legged and naked on a snow-bearing peak.

The climate here was stuck where winter meets spring

(The snow was as soft as swan down)

The flirtatious sound of the market did not exist here

There was only the faint sound of time chewing its cud

There were no cobras, owls, and sphinx

Just mandarava flowers, olive trees, and jade butterflies

There were no words, longitude and latitude, or Buddhas

with a thousand hands and eyes

The point of contact was a mass of silent force, simple and vast

The day as quiet and tranquil as the night

The night more beautiful, abundant, and brilliant than the day

The cold is like wine, containing poetry and beauty

Even emptiness knows drinking games,

Inviting a sky full of mute stars to play

The past doesn't budge, the future doesn't come

I am the servant and the ruler of the “present.”

昨夜，我又夢見我

赤裸裸地趺坐在負雪的山峰上。

這裏的氣候黏在冬天與春天的介面處

（這裏的雪是溫柔如天鵝絨的）

這裏沒有嬲騷的市聲

只有時間嚼著時間的反芻的微響

這裏沒有眼鏡蛇、貓頭鷹與人面獸

只有曼陀羅花、橄欖樹和玉蝴蝶

這裏沒有文字、經緯、千手千眼佛

觸處是一團渾渾莽莽沉默的吞吐的力

這裏白晝幽闃窈窕如夜

夜比白晝更綺麗、豐實、光燦

而這裏的寒冷如酒，封藏著詩和美

甚至虛空也懂手談，邀來滿天忘言的繁星⋯⋯

過去佇足不去，未來不來

我是「現在」的臣僕，也是帝皇。
