氣候變遷

氣候變遷雖然是當代的議題，卻在《黑帝斯城》這齣以古希臘神話為背景的音樂劇中，被巧妙地重新詮釋：氣候變得這麼奇怪，是因為波瑟芬妮不準時回來人間才導致，彷彿她自己也忘記有春天這回事了！（波瑟芬妮唱的歌詞裡也沒有出現「春天」這個詞）

這裡也呼應〈Any Way the Wind Blow〉裡，尤麗狄絲提到：氣候極端，只剩下夏天與冬天。

目前，雖然造成氣候變遷的女神：波瑟芬妮已經出場，然而在這裡還未明白說明，為什麼她不再準時出現在人間，僅僅提到因為「有某人阻撓」。

「等待」的主題

「等待」在這首曲子的開頭出現了好幾次，這其實是貫穿了整齣音樂劇的重要主題。透過耐心等待，低潮終究會過去，畢竟人生高低起伏，本來就跟季節一樣，隨時輪轉著。

奧菲歐是擁有理想、願意相信並等待的人。在他敬波瑟芬妮的段落中，表達了一個烏托邦般的世界，大家和睦相處，不過度索取浪費，等到時間到了，女神自動會帶來食物與美酒。

躁鬱的春天女神

波瑟芬妮的歌詞裡，隱含著躁鬱的狀態：

「Ｗhen you're down, you're down. When you're up, you're up （當你掉到地獄時，就好好低落一番；當你回到地面，就盡情狂歡）」

up 與 down 除了分別指人間與地獄以外，也代表著兩種情緒狀態：躁狂與憂鬱。躁狂的時候，會感覺到很嗨、非常愉悅，甚至有自己無所不能的自信；憂鬱的時候，則會感覺到難過、麻木、沒有動力、失去希望以及無來由的罪惡感。

躁狂與憂鬱，是兩種極端的情緒狀態，也對應到了只有夏、冬兩季的極端天氣。這裡似乎也暗示著，波瑟芬妮作為掌握季節循環的女神，她的精神狀態並不太好。在此景中，她展現的是躁狂的狀態，狂歡與不斷自我吹噓，也對應到此景裡的季節：夏天。

有趣的是，雙極性情緒疾患（舊稱：躁鬱症）的躁期與鬱期，也常常受到季節變化影響－躁期好發於春夏，而鬱期則好發於秋冬。

或許波瑟芬妮在冥冥之中，也掌控著我們的情緒起伏。
