這一集跟平常不太一樣，不算是時事反而更生活化一些～

會發生什麼呢?

You know, when you are hurt,
There's the bleeding, the pain,
And then—
There's the wound.
Sometimes it doesn't break the skin,
After the pain comes discoloration:
A bruise that is blue, purple, yellow, or black.
Or friction might come into play,
Like when ill-fitting shoes rub your feet,
Forming small pockets of fluid called blisters.
Sometimes it's a minor but annoying scratch,
Like a paper cut or a needle prick—
A shallow wound that stings,
But isn't really serious at all.
Or a foreign object might get stuck in the skin,
Like a splinter of wood,
The sensation of something sneaky hiding under your skin.
Sometimes you lose your balance and fall,
Scraping your knees against rough, hard pavement.
Or the fall cuts deep, like a nasty puncture:
A gory gash,
A gnarly burn,
A stab to the heart.
But the pain won't last forever...
After all the blood, pus, and tears, it will eventually get better.
Patch it up, stitch it up, apply a bandage.
With care, time, and rest,
The wound heals and becomes a scab—
A protective crust over all that tenderness.
And one day, after some itchiness,
The scab falls off, and all that is left is...
A scar.
Depending on how you look at it,
That scar could be ugly,
A cruel reminder of the hurt and pain.
But it can also be a beautiful memory:
Evidence of our strength,
Proof that we survived and grew stronger.
Like a battle scar—
Something we don’t try to hide,
But wear with pride.
You were once hurt, but now healed.
1. Bleed 流血
你知道，當你受傷時～
You know, when you are hurt
會有

😖 Pain 疼痛
然後就會有
🤕️ Wound 傷口
流血的英文，最常見的是
🩸 Bleed (動詞) 流血
Bleed, bleeds, bleeding, bled

Your arm is bleeding 你的手臂在流血
那「流血中的狀況」名詞則是

除了流血之外，bleed 在生活中也有一些常見的用法～

(字面上) 放乾某人的血
(常用來表達) 榨乾錢財 / 情緒 / 體力 (BBC)
This divorce has bled me dry
這次離婚把我榨乾了 (BBC)
The landlord keeps raising the rent, and it's bleeding us dry.

有一首很有名的英文歌叫

但這首歌的解讀我覺得反而比較像是：
🩸 太愛了，愛到覺得痛，愛到在淌血

2. Bruise 瘀青
回到我們今天的主題，我其實是把

的相關重要單字
寫成了一個 (我不好意思說是 😅)

把這些單字串起來，加上一點點故事性～

3. Blister 水泡
另一種沒有破皮的傷口跟
👉 Friction 摩擦力
有關
如當穿上了新的鞋子或
🥿 Ill-fitting shoes 不合腳的鞋子
就會一直
🦶 Rub your feet 摩腳、摩擦你的腳
rubs, rubbing, rubbed
尤其是
🦶 Heels 腳後跟 (heel 複數)
(高跟鞋 👠 的英文可以說 high heels, 但常直接簡化成一個字 heels)
或
🦶 Big toe 腳的大拇指
👉 Friction 摩擦力
🙋 Comes into play 起作用、生效

形成
💧 Small pockets of fluid
一小包一小包的液體
叫做
💧 Blisters 水泡

4. Scratch
有時候傷口是那種明明不嚴重但很煩人 (的傷口)
👉 A minor but annoying scratch
輕微但惱人的擦傷
👉 Scratch (名詞) 擦傷、抓傷、刮傷
👉 Scratch (動詞) scratches, scratching, scratched
Oxford Learner's Dictionaries 解釋 scratch 可以是
👉 Rub your skin with your nails 用指甲摩擦皮膚
尤其是搔癢的時候～
She scratched at the insect bites on her arm.
她搔了搔手臂上被蟲咬的地方。
He kept scratching at his nose.
他不停地抓自己的鼻子。
也可以是
🩸 Cut skin 割破皮膚的
但通常程度很輕微
🩸 Cut or damage your skin slightly with something sharp
用尖銳的東西輕微割傷或損傷皮膚
Does the cat scratch?
貓咪會抓人或東西嗎？
I scratched my arm on a rose bush.

Even a small paper cut can sting when you wash your hands.

但一般不持久～
如

這種都是會刺痛的淺淺傷口，

但其實 / 通常來說 / 不嚴重。
5. Splinter
你有沒有試過小東西被卡在皮膚裡像

這樣

一般會被稱為
👉 Splinter (名詞) 尖尖的碎片
A person can remove a splinter at home using tweezers or duct tape...
人們可以在家裡用小夾子或膠帶取出碎片 (medicalnewstoday)
這種傷口特別的
😈 Sneaky 偷偷摸摸的、鬼鬼祟祟的

有東西鬼鬼祟祟地藏在你皮膚下的感覺

有一個很有趣的延伸用法～
有時候有些人或東西不知道為什麼就是會讓你覺得...
🙅 很不爽、很不舒服 、很不喜歡
這時候就可以使用片語
👉 Get under somebody's skin
(字面上) 跑到某人的皮膚底下
(常用來表達) 激怒某人、惹某人生氣
Don't let him get under your skin.
別讓他惹到你 / 不要理會他

那隻蚊子整晚嗡嗡一直叫，真讓我煩透了。

小傷口講完了，開始講大傷口～
我兒子最近在學走路，有時難免會擔心他會不會

但

跌倒是生活的一部分
如果跌在

🛣️ Hard 堅硬的

很可能就會

Scrape vs scratch 的擦傷～ 有什麼不一樣？
Scratch
👉 通常是細長型的傷口，像指甲刮傷或木枝劃傷這種
Scrape
👉 比較大片的傷口
👉 尤其常用在跌倒後的破皮擦傷
She fell off her bike and scraped her knee.
她從腳踏車上摔下來，擦傷了膝蓋。
He had a big scrape on his elbow after the fall.
摔倒後，他的手肘上有個大大的擦傷傷口。
Scrape 搭配不同的介詞就可以用來表達很多不同的意思 😄
🧹 Scrape off
(把某不要的東西) 刮掉、清除掉
We'll have to scrape the snow off the car before we go out in it.
我們開車出去之前必須先掃除車上的積雪 (Cambridge)
She scraped the mud off her boots.
她刮掉了靴子上的泥 (Oxford Learner's Dictionaries)

勉強達標、低空飛過、勉強過關
He lost his job, so the family had to scrape by on one small salary.
他丟了工作，所以一家人只好靠一份微薄的薪水勉強過活 (Cambridge)
We didn't study much, but somehow we scraped by on the exam.
我們沒有很認真的學習，但不知怎麼做到的還是勉強通過考試了。

7. Gnarly
有時...
💔 The fall cuts deep
跌倒留下了很深的傷口
像是一個
👉 Nasty 糟糕的
👉 Puncture 刺傷；被尖物刺出的小孔
🩸 A gory gash 一道血淋淋的傷口
(Gash 尤指長而深的傷口)
🩸A gnarly burn 一道噁心的燙傷
🩸A stab to the heart 一道刺穿心臟的傷口、在心口捅一刀
今年 4 月流行樂女團 KATSEYE 推出了一首歌叫
🎵 Gnarly
就跟上方的
🩸Gnarly burn 噁心的燙傷
一樣的單字
👉 Gnarly (形容詞)
這首歌的第一句是:

他們可以用一個詞來形容一切
這個字就是

會這樣說是因為 gnarly 形容詞 一開始是貶意為主

8. 包紮
傷口雖然很痛 😖

但疼痛不會永遠持續下去。
經歷了

之後

有一種修補、拼湊的感覺～
快速但不是特別整齊的修補，不只限於傷口也可以用在修補其他東西的狀況

生活上的用法幾乎是互通的，但如果在一些技術性的領域如科學類或法律相關的，有時意思會有點差別，我查到的資料是：
Evidence 👉 是線索；是證明事實的某個資訊
Proof 👉 像是結論；因為許多的線索達成 (什麼是真實) 的結論
如寫作軟體 prowritingaid 網站上寫道
Proof proves something is true, while evidence is like a clue.
Proof 證明某件事是真的，而 evidence 就像一條線索。

有點像是經歷了懷孕與生產後贏得的榮耀 🏆
不管是什麼樣的疤痕，我最喜歡這樣的說法

每個傷疤都訴說著一個故事
