On My Way Out

It's the first Sunday after Thanksgiving.

I could have visited another library,

They all closed today thanks to budget cuts.

Then I remembered I still had some gym passes,

So I began to gear up for the gym.

I wore yoga pants underneath my boy fleece pants,

Thinking I might be overdressed,

Cause the temperature wasn't below zero yet.

When I was standing on the platform,

The air quickly penetrated my first layer,

As I felt chilly on my legs.

I walked into a subway car and noticed

Digital screens on one side,

I automatically sat down on the opposite side

to avoid feeding on LED advertising.

Not today, I need less stimulus.

Any position I sat in

I felt the pain in my hip,

It reminded me how I injured my hip

At the gym.

I looked through a car window

With dirt and stains on it.

I put my hands into my pockets

And there was a note from work.

Oh, that's the worst nightmare on your day off.

Anything that calls your attention to work is a sin.

No now, work is not supposed to intrude on my leisure time.
