Opening (5 minutes)

Welcome and class introduction.

I'd like to ask all of you to take your essays home and finish them up. Originally, I had hoped we could complete them during our class time, but I've come to realize that it's just not realistic. So, it's best to give you the opportunity to work on them at your own pace outside of class.
